Baggage Policies

CARRY-ON BAGGAGE

Passengers are permitted one free carry-on bag (not exceeding 30 lbs or 50 linear inches) and one carry-on personal item (not to exceed 41.5 linear inches). Due to limited space in the aircraft cabin, your carry-on bag will be checked at the gate and returned to you at your destination. Personal items (such as purses, briefcases, or laptop bags) must meet size restrictions, based on aircraft type (see below).

If you are connecting to a flight on another airline, please review that airline’s carry-on baggage policies as well.

Checked Baggage and Connecting Flights

Please read the following information carefully.  Depending on how your itinerary is ticketed, you may need to claim your checked baggage and check it in with your connecting airline.  If you have any questions about whether your baggage is checked through to your final destination, please ask an airline representative when checking your bags.

If your Denver Air Connection flight is booked in the same reservation with a connecting flight on United, American, or Delta Air Lines, your baggage can be checked through to your final destination.

For passengers who are not connecting to United, American, or Delta Air Line flights, or who have purchased separate tickets for their connecting flight, you must claim your checked baggage from the baggage claim and recheck with your connecting airline. In this case, Denver Air Connection cannot claim your baggage from another airline. If you do not claim your own baggage from your other airline, consult your other airline for their policies on unclaimed/abandoned baggage. If you feel that you will not have enough time to make your connection, please contact our call center to change to a later flight, subject to any applicable change/cancellation fees.

International Baggage

Due to airline alliance rules, Denver Air Connection can not check luggage through to any international destinations.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

Certain items are prohibited by the TSA aboard passenger aircraft. Please see the TSA list for details: http://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/prohibited-items

Hazardous Materials

Federal law forbids the carriage of hazardous materials aboard aircraft, in your luggage or on your person. Hazardous materials include explosives, compressed gasses, flammable liquids and solids, oxidizers, poisons, corrosives and radioactive materials.

Hoverboards

Denver Air Connection will not accept hoverboards (motorized, two-wheel, skateboard sized scooters) aboard our passenger aircraft in either checked or carry-on baggage. Although government agencies have not prohibited the carriage of hoverboards aboard aircraft, we are joining the growing list of airlines prohibiting these items due to the risk of fire from lithium or lithium-ion batteries contained inside. On rare occasion these batteries can spontaneously overheat and pose a fire hazard risk.

Smart Bags/Smart Clothing

Denver Air Connection prohibits smart bags, smart clothing, and other articles containing non-removable lithium batteries in checked or carry-on baggage.

Lithium Batteries

Denver Air Connection will accept lithium ion or lithium metal batteries aboard our passenger aircraft, provided they are properly installed in a permitted consumer electronic device. Spare or loose lithium batteries are not permitted in checked or carry-on baggage, and are only permitted as part of your personal item allowance. Lithium batteries that are damaged, defective, or recalled by the manufacturer are not permitted aboard aircraft.

FRAGILE ITEMS

Improperly packed and/or fragile items will be accepted subject to Limited Release and Denver Air Connection will not be responsible for any damage to items that are accepted with Limited Release.

Denver Air Connection is not responsible for loss or damage to fragile or irreplaceable items including but not limited to antiques, collectibles, computer hardware/software, electronic devices, cameras, photographic equipment, photos, scientific instruments, precision measuring/metering devices, perishable items, glass/pottery/ceramic items, or valuables (such as money, coins, precious metals, jewelry) regardless of whether they were accepted with limited release.

LOST OR DAMAGED BAGGAGE

Damaged or lost baggage must be reported in person within four hours of customer’s arrival at destination airport.

Please note that short connection times (less than 2 hours) on inter-airline transfers may result in an inability to transfer baggage as intended causing delayed delivery.  Bags delayed due to short connection times will be sent to their destination on the next available flight.

Damaged Baggage

Denver Air Connection is not liable for ordinary wear and tear, damage caused due to defective or poor-quality bags, overpacking, or improperly packed items.  Improperly packed and/or fragile items may be accepted for transport subject to a limited release of liability, and Denver Air Connection is not responsible for any damage to items accepted with a limited release.  It is the responsibility of the passenger to declare the presence of fragile items in checked baggage at the time of check in.  See fragile items above for additional limitations.

All baggage is subject to TSA screening. Denver Air Connection is not responsible for items which have been damaged or confiscated as a result of TSA inspections. If your luggage is damaged or items are missing due to security screening requirements, please file a written claim with TSA.  You can contact TSA via their website (https://www.tsa.gov/contact) or by calling 866-289-9673.

Delayed/Missing Baggage

Denver Air Connection will make every attempt to locate and return missing/delayed baggage in a timely manner.  Once a delayed bag has been located, it will be sent to its destination on the next available flight.  Baggage which has not been located for more than 14 days since reported missing will be considered lost.

Baggage Liability

Denver Air Connection’s liability for lost or damaged baggage is limited to $2,000 per fare-paying customer.

Reporting Missing/Damaged Baggage

You may report missing or damaged baggage by filling out and submitting our Missing/Delayed/Damaged Baggage Report form available from Denver Air Connection representatives at the airport.
